What is Damascene?

This is the process of applying gold or silver over iron or steel which produces decorative patterns. Many of the definitions for damascene also refer to Damascus as the city of origin - hence the name. Reed and Barton also uses a different technique, since they also use copper in their Damascene jewelry.

Much jewelry produced, which is called damascene, is actually faux damascene or Tourist damascene. See more information here.
